Who Killed Carlo Tresca?
New York, Tresca Memorial Committee, 1945, 8vo a punto metallico con copertina illustrata, pp. 32. Rarissimo opuscolo, ristampato negli anni Ottanta. Carlo Tresca (1879-1943), socialista radicale di grande indipendenza di pensiero, fu uno dei principali promotori dell'antifascismo negli Stati Uniti, dove acquis" la casa editrice Il Martello, trasformandola in una delle voci più ascoltate nelle comunità italoamericane avverse al regime. Venne assassinato, in circostanze poco chiare, l'11 gennaio del 1943. Del comitato mobilitatosi per Tresca, al quale si deve questa pubblicazione, facevano parte, tra gli altri, grandi intellettuali d'oltreoceano, come John Dewey e Edmund Wilson. Una piccola lacerazione, senza mancanze, alla piega della copertina, ma molto ben conservato. Edizione originale.

The author employed innovative techniques to focus on the lives of twelve central characters. This trilogy provides the reader with a description of life in America in the early part of the 20th century. With illustrations by Reginald Marsh. The U.S.A. trilogy was named to the Modern Library list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. An entry in the Franklin Library's 100 Greatest Masterpieces of American Literature series, issued in conjunction with the Bicentennial of the American Revolution. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. Publisher's "Notes from the Editors" booklet about this work is included. --- Bound in full dark red bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges (AEG) all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers. Brown silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker.
